2015-2016 Vocabulary Building Grade 6

PLEASE READ THE DIRECTIONS CAREFULLY!!

2. Read the definitions and example sentences carefully. Make sure you understand the information! 3. Research the words on www.dictionary.com to get a SYNONYM AND ANTONYM for each word.
4. Click on the comments section (type your first name only) and enter the synonym and antonym. Also create your own sentence that demonstrates the meaning of each word. (You can read the example format  entries from previous years for more examples)

All entries must be submitted by the end of the school day on Thursday of each week! No late entries will be accepted!
Points per word:   5 pts = proper spelling, accurate synonym and antonym, accurate sentence that shows understanding of word.
                              4 pts= minor spelling error, accurate synonym and antonym, sentence  may not show understanding of word.
                              3 pts = incorrectly spelled, improper synonym and antonym, no sentence using original word.
                             1-2 pts= above mistakes and entry made for only one word (incomplete)
                              0 pts= no entry made

Word: peer

Sentence: They peer in wonder at the octopus. OR He did not give in to peer pressure.

Word: predicament

Sentence: I got myself into a terrible predicament. 

Definition: (n) an unpleasant difficult situation

Word: appropriate

Sentence: Sally wore appropriate clothes. OR She tried to appropriate my computer. 

Definition: (adj) suitable or fitting for a particular purpose or person or occasion; (v) to take or make use of without authority or right
