Words for the week of November 8-12, 2010

1. wistfully (adjective) describing something that is done in a sad or pensive way.

2. avert (verb) meaning to ward off or prevent from happening.
Sentence from the book- p.203 "He says it's 'to preserve the peace and avert violence,' but it seems to me he's asking for trouble."
